The Zócalo of Oaxaca.
Oaxaca was founded in 1529 nearby an Indian settlement. It counts a half million inhabitants and lies on an altitude of 1500 meters. It has thereby a lovely mild climate; never too warm or too cold.

Oaxaca is especially famous for its markets, and... Grasshoppers!!!!...
LOS CHAPULINES !!!

Objects in Museo Regional. There are Mixtecs jewels, and other objects of, gold, turquoise, obsidian, and glass. All these pieces, which date of around 500, were found in tomb 7, in the ruin city Monte Albán.. The museum contains also a library with more than 20.000 old books. In 10 former convent cells we can form a picture of the culture of the region from the prehistory to after the Revolution.

Oaxaca rain.
Our holiday lasted from 15-7 till 30-7, in the middle of in the rain season therefore. This meant for us that it started to rain frequently at noon. Sometimes for a short time (15 min.) sometimes, however, 2 hours.

Here it just starts to rain, and the salesmen wrap up their merchandise in plastic...
